Beyond Body Language: Listening with Your Eyes!

note: This is the second of three programs in Chicago Creative Coalition’s RE-Presenting Yourself series.

As creatives, you are often undervalued, underpaid and misunderstood. Over time, your nonverbal signals can either change to reflect less confidence, or sometimes overcompensate, and become harsh. It is imperative that you understand the nonverbal signals you send and receive.

In this program, you will learn how to achieve the best balance for your business success, and gain nonverbal skills for more confidence and command of the room when presenting your work to clients or the public. You will learn how to be more persistent, persuasive and collaborative through the nonverbal signals you use and from interpreting correctly the signals you receive.

Alison Henderson is founder and owner of Moving Image Consulting – a firm created from her passion for movement and her need of a day job to support her theater habit! Dedicated to improving leadership and communication, Moving Image Consulting provides unique, practical insight into the meaning and impact of non-verbal communication–body movement, posture shifts and gestures. As one of 23 Certified Movement Pattern Analysts in the world, Alison brings a unique awareness of visual cues and what they reveal about the decision-making and action patterns of individuals.

Alison has trained diverse audiences from the National Association of Bar Executives to CPAs to the Military Processing Entrance Command – and, of course, professional actors! She has spoken at conferences around the United States, in London, and recently returned from speaking at the Copenhagen International School of Performing Arts. She is the Artistic Director of Reckless Ensemble Theatre and is an adjunct theater professor at the College of DuPage.
